New Moon, Mercury Retro, & Opportunity To Advance

The continuing drama produced by Mars in Cancer/Leo oppose Pluto in Aquarius, will be ongoing from end of October 2024 up through April 26 2025.
Other than the fact that we have entered a six month cycle where we are in Martian attack mode, (War themes) let’s look at some personal perspectives of Mars retrograde opposition.

We can expect a continuation of pulls upon us coming from numerous directions. It can leave us with a sense of being torn in too many paths … ”where do I direct my attention? What should I prioritize”
It’s a dull sort of energy coming from Mars in Leo/Cancer retro oppose Pluto in Aquarius, not what I would have expected. Yes, in the beginning, mid October, there could be felt a major step up of stress. If you lay out your daily or yearly strategy clearly, prioritizing what would be the most logical issues to be handled now, it should become quite obvious what your most important priorities are, yet being sandwiched between these two planets, is creating a dulling sort of blockage, to our own Mars motivation.
How do we get disentangled from this theme so we can feel our consciousness is more grounded and engaged?
In any Pluto opposition, it creates a negating effect upon the planet it is opposing and its pure purpose. It can be showing up as opposition to something we are attempting to achieve.
Definitely force you want to break free from. At some point, it becomes obvious we are being guided as to what requires attention, to be dealt with, handled, transformed, fixed or recognized. And, it feels as if it’s interfering with our ability to shine and act upon our own inspired creative needs. While this drama occurs, the very fact Pluto is in an opposition for such a long time, (October to late April 2025) the opposition itself creates a sort of disappointing standstill in an area of our life.
How I am personally experiencing it in my life would be where certain projects are going so slowly, I’m beginning to question, what is wrong with me!
If you are sensing any of this also, maybe what is required is such a strong decision to cut out everything else until this one thing is finally handled successfully, even if it means neglecting other important activities in our life which previously, would be unthinkable!!
And, here are the strongest dates of this opposition energy:
October 20 – November 15, peaking on November 3, 4, 2024
Returns December 20 – January 10, 2025, peaks exact January 3, 2025;
Returns last time on April 15 – May 10, 2025, exact on April 26, 2025.

See how it was exact a few days up to election day in the U.S. December 31, it starts all over again escalating on January 3. April 24 returns, peaking exact April 26, then leaving April 28, 2025.
But, the entire time from end of October through end of April 2025, we have been in a war mode literally and for some it feels personal. What are we at war with? Plutonian forces attempting to shut down some productive activity released to our planet because of the other cosmic energies flowing into the Earth at this time. The opposition is revealing to us a code or symbols showing in the astrological and astrophysical world, of what the forces might be doing or be up to – we can see it play out in the planets. It’s like a language, a code to help us navigate.
Even though there will be intensely strong moments of this energy on the peaks above, I sense it will be an ongoing backdrop theme we need to resist falling into.
One positive thing this opposition can release to us, is the determination to target, locate and eliminate a stagnate undermining energy or situation in our world, which prevents us from experiencing positive Cancer/Leo success!
What would be positive Cancer themes?
Money and abundance of the things we need to thrive. Security, emotional wholeness, safety, harmony in our lives…a well functioning home, real estate or property goals reached. Family success and growth –
Possible issues surrounding food, supply and any form of deep emotional needs being met.
In Leo , Mars inspires romance, self respect, dignity, confidence and courage – being capable and creative in all sorts of activities, leadership, and of course, the need for love.
Mars in Leo, enhances anything involving success, your personal creative potential, bringing a project to life. Here is a list:
- Your effort put into your quality of self care, clothes, appearance and style
- Design
- Art form
- Music created
- Graphics
- Imagery
- Software development
- Home design and architecture
- Fashion
- Self education and learning, mastering something.
- Fun, happiness, pleasure
- Loving life and experiencing opportunity to shine, advance your life.
- Anything involving the best for children, babies, pregnancies or child education.
Remember, if you feel challenged in these areas, don’t feel bad, it’s the way of the world right now like a soldier or knight wounded in the battle. It’s going to take some time to recover, and for some, we might need to live with the new limitations. Chalk it up to the war. I’m serious. You know we have been in a war, right?
Again, take one step at a time, and thank our divine Guide, Higher Self and God for all the good we have learned, experienced and overcome already! Take one step at a time.
Challenge #1…
Pluto oppose would potentially, attempt to emit a continuous stream of energy attempting to block, negate any of these beautiful activities, even cause us to give up. Throw in the towel, surrender and convince ourselves we must be deluded to think we could achieve this or that thing. Some will feel this as a subtle undercurrent in the world, others, a serious obstacle of attitude and real life problems. Don’t fixate upon it, don’t worry and think about it, simply engage in things which are transforming, positive and helping you to feel empowered each day. Advance into your Golden Future!
How about the entire world going through this opposition?
Again, the positive is to be the innate power taking the reins of your life, transforming your attitude into positive potential and ideas. Draw upon the momentum within yourself, recognize there is a change, a shift of powers moving from the undeserving, to those who could be new, inexperienced possibly, but bright and have more light in the world of leadership.
We are being challenging to remove the old matrices of dysfunction, negativity, jaded blockages of cumbersome energies attempting to molasses up our journey to the point where it’s just too laborious to continue along a certain path. The old ways cause hopelessness. I believe we are entering a time of hope and the physical demonstration of powerful progress.
Don’t give in to this Pluto energy! It’s not constructive, let’s use it for the challenging of existing negative energies, density in leadership, narrow mindedness and obstinate one track archaic thinking and selfish agendas
It would be a good idea if we negate Pluto opposes Mars, rather than Pluto negate us – refusing to allow it to dominate, posture and threaten our Cancer safety, prosperity and future economic wealth, and the Leo joy and heart expansion in so many ways.

Okay, ready for the next opposition challenge?
Mercury in Sagittarius retrograde oppose Jupiter in Gemini, and square Saturn in Pisces.
November 10 or thereabouts, leading up to the first peak, November 18, continuing up to December 4, up to December 26, 2024.
We discussed this extensively, in the last Stardrops, so feel free to go HERE and review.
With this special Mercury retrograde, we are attempting to balance overly optimistic enthusiasm, over-expansion, over doing it with tasks or work, while remaining objective clear perspective and vision. We are balancing the important areas of our life, handling upsets, overwhelm, budgets, overspending and any high expectations of any kind. In otherwords, try to stay practical and don’t go overboard.
Because Saturn is the “GO TO” planet in this configuration, as it t-squares the Mercury on one side of Earth, and Jupiter on the other side of the Earth, Saturn holds the key to handling all of this. (see wheel above).
So, Saturn might be asking us, in the sign of Pisces, to have faith, move forward the best you can, pay attention to your details, scrutinize well your choices, your decisions.
The key to handle this opposition I feel, is Saturn. Saturn tells me, whatever it is we want to move forward on, is messy, complicated, and there may be parts to our task that are not explained to us, or laid out very clearly – like we’re sort of winging it.
After you have done your due diligence with prioritizing, researching or analyzing your next steps, move forward with your intention of the ultimate goal you have in mind, regardless of how messy, imperfect or potentially disappointing the reality may look to you, rather than become paralyzed and do nothing. That’s the point. Many of us are in a situation right now, where the option of retreat or going back, or waiting, is not a luxury to be had now. Just keep moving forward!
Saturn in Pisces holds an architectural plan – an ideal. That’s Pisces. As we said last week, it’s the ability to have faith in the synthesis of the entire plan, and perfecting it along the way.
Virgo, Gemini, would want all the facts, data, and re-assurance, it’s all going to play out with the least misfortune or disappointments.
But in this case, Mercury retro – the prompt to follow a trail, to expand and hold vision for something better in our future, the Jupiter opposing, the power to become informed, to stretch our minds, learn, network or gain good information in order to expand, and the t-square to Saturn, funneling all this expansion or desire for a better future – into Saturn’s pragmatic structural concrete nature, bringing us into a more upgraded ideal in the material world – in your hands. But in Pisces? It’s so ephemeral, so vague, idealistic – but! Pisces along with Aquarius (Pluto just entering Aquarius for 21 years) is quantum physics, woo science, the laws of altering your future’s immediate timeline from the reality you are in now, to a reality timeline which is just a hair away!
Pisces has the ability to grasp this, and so it is a sign of Faith and Science, Quantum Science and Spirituality – you take one step at a time – breaking it down into bits and pieces – get up each morning and say, how can I advance one more step today?
Simply try – do it- and before you know it – you are in your new reality, you’ve simply moved into it, without your mind or ego’s participation – that is the Magic!,but your spirit connected to that vast intelligence moved that reality into your new life, not just your logical brain.
Yes, yes, this all sounds way to ephemeral and unrealistic – I know. I’m telling you, there is a magic world that does not operate in the domain of our mental brain functioning – it isn’t logical, yet it happens! And, it’s now becoming more and more tangible for us all! What if these astrological cycles were epic shifts towards our true God-Like potential?
We need Mercury in Sagittarius retrograde’s stationary focus to target us, get our attention – in order to guide our vision towards a future goal or expand our life in some important way, project a vision board onto our mind or in reality – we need Jupiter (which rules Sagittarius by the way) in Gemini for the logistics, the scheduling, the appointments, the meetings and agreed upon plan of action – to help us organize the information, grasp the vision -(Mercury in Sagittarius, Jupiter in Gemini are in mutual reception),
and….we need the Saturn in Pisces to lift us into that higher world of magical science, where things simply precipitate – think of that Piscean master, Jesus, and the phenomenon he manifested, documented so magically in times past.
Here are the timetables for you to take note when these inspiring yet challenging moments might be felt the strongest in your life…
From Mid November through the end of December, we are all pulling together a new dream, and attempting to plan it out, believe it could come true, taking one step at a time as we create the plan.

These dates are to be used for us to challenge the limiting world we are sitting in now, and decide to step into action for a different future.
Use these dates as marker points for those decision moments when they are at a higher level of tension.
Other Planetary cycles…
On November 30, 2024 again, the theme of expansive optimism and continuing to take one step at a time to learn, educate, advance and utilize the materials, the insights and tangible things you have at your disposal is key. As you can see below, the Sun, Moon in Sagittarius, along with the Mercury in Sag retro, (supercharged thinking and processing present situations!) is oppose Jupiter in Gemini, and square Saturn in Pisces – just as we discussed in the Mercury retro above.
This New Moon totally elevates our theme of expansion and projecting positive change onto our future, to what we’re all needing to master and take advantage of during this dynamic creative visionary time – put our resources and skills to good use – without running into any extreme overdoing it if it can be avoided.
One thing I mentioned in the last week article, would be to definitely hold back on one’s judgmental tendency during this time – there is an energy which would love to blow certain issue up and we don’t want to regret any words or decisions we make during November/December.

November 26 Venus inconjunct Jupiter a day of social relationship demands – not to difficult, simply adjusting, accommodating, keep yourself flexible, and remain happy, supportive and cooperative.
Nov 27 Sun trine Mars A very nice energetic empowered day for constructive outcomes – engage, plan, take action and have joy!
November 27 Venus at 19* Capricorn square Chiron at 19* Aries A nice day to reflect on our victories, replacing our past hurts and wounds with a deeper respectful attitude for the people close to us in our life. Gratitude, empowerment and acknowledging the good others have done.
December 1, Mercury trine Chiron A beautiful day where we can feel aligned, productive, at peace and ready to end 2024 with great things accomplished!
December 2, Venus trine Uranus Socially, a fun day of some excitement, novelty, surprises. Love, social connections, friendships and community themes are very much highlighted. Music and the arts reveal gifted original work. Spirits are high, honesty and transparency is appreciated today.
December 4, the second peak of Mercury oppose Jupiter (first peak was November 17 – 20)‘
This is covered in the Mercury retro above. It is a time of guided intuitive optimism in a vision, with the need for very realistic planning.
December 4 Sun in Sagittarius square Saturn in Pisces A day for order, discipline and re-examining the feasibility of plans. A time for pulling out the threads of unrealistic expectations and instead re-doing one’s ultimate goals. A hard day if you need things to go smoothly with authority figures, children, or creative work. I wouldn’t go to any important appointments under this square.
December 4 Venus sextile Neptune The later part of the day can end up nice, visits with loved ones, and an inspiring conversation or event, a great movie, a magical dinner?
December 5 Mercury conjoin Sun The power of your mind is fused today with dynamic will, intention and energy to take action. A great day for presenting, sharing, acting on one’s decisions. A mentally charged communicaation and insightful day.
December 6 Mars officially turns retrograde at 6* Leo. Many posts have been written about this Mars – I lead you to this link to get the big picture – as this has been building for months and won’t leave anytime soon!
On December 13 – 16th, Mars and Mercury finally, make a nice relationship between each other. This is a moment of constructive empowered action taken, combined with your mind grasping the positive results and feeling so appreciative as something wonderful could be finally accomplished! Excellent for constructive meetings, launches, writing and communication of all sort. Empowered to sign papers, submit important reports, review data, lead and share.
A Short Synopsis of the past six years at Starfires….
My Thanksgiving praise would be the biggest heartfelt hug and gratitude for you. All of you who have written, reached out, commented and for those who simply read these lengthy Stardrops, I personally, am overwhelmed and amazed.
From 1998 on, articles at Starfires were random special featured planetary themes. With being so busy raising a family, and other interesting dramas taking place, I didn’t have the proper situation to commit to something weekly.
I was nervous to begin a commitment to write these updates, no matter what, each week, and I have always felt from the first day I started this series (June 2019) we were all in this together. I’m sure most online contributors feel exactly the same. Something bigger led me to do this, and if there was any glimmer of guidance, like a weekly road map I could give, I was happy to do it. I also had little faith that planetary aspects alone would have that much control over our own individual paths versus personal Transits to your Personal chart, but they do! Many times I just finished writing a Stardrops and in a few days time, I walked right into the very theme, I cautioned everyone to not do! It totally happened. And another thing, in 2019 when this began, little did I know, in a years time – we would all be trekking through a global crisis. So many lovely people emailed me, letting me know, they counted on my weekly updates to help them get through the hardest times, ever.
Right now, as I am also experiencing the Mercury retro, New Moon Sagittarius expansiveness and trying to fit it all in – I am excited about our 2025 projects for you to take part in which will be featured on our New Starfires site. It is a lot of work, fitting it all in with consultations each week, but it is worth it!
If everything goes well (crossing fingers) much fun, community connection and sharing, growth and opportunity for our individual personal self mastery will be loaded up on the site for you to enjoy. I see how everyone over the decades are evolving out off the old patterns of these planetary transits and themes, *(the old definition of particular transits to your personal astrology have changed) and capturing the higher meanings, the deeper psychological growth rather than the harder in your face setbacks and torture they truly used to release on most charts. What an amazing thing to witness over time! It is the collective soul growth of the people, empowered people of light that are dictating this change on the planet.
The force of energy emanating from this Mercury retro t-square, is not a little thing. I believe, we are in training to uplift our minds and our belief into a science of shifting into new life situations much more effortlessly. It would be like this – take a limited situation, say to yourself…”Even though I feel stuck, I know this will turn around!” Then move yourself into an action, any action, which would send a signal to the field around you, to adjust to the new reality. A better one. We will keep experimenting with this as it’s just now truly becoming the new lesson, the new requirements even though these concepts have been around forever!
And my thoughts about the Mars oppose Pluto, is the global changing of the guard. October through April 2025, it’s happening!
